Types of Share Markets in India:

1) Primary:

Companies or Businesses register and list for the first time. Companies enter Primary Share Market to raise funds by offering their Stocks to the general public. Listing of Company in the Primary Share Market and offering to sell its shares for the first time is known as Initial Public Offering (IPO). Owning the shares of a Company means that Share holder is a part-owner of the Company in the proportion of shares held.

2) Secondary:

After the Company lists in the Primary Market, the actual trading of Company’s Shares occur in the Secondary Share Market. After the shares of a Company are listed, Investors can trade i.e. sell our purchase the shares.
